/Chemical Compounds
For students to learn the properties of chemical compounds. They will determine the importance of certain chemical compounds that are used in everyday life. The students will to identify characteristics of certain chemical compounds and have an understanding of how they are used throughout the world.
Unit Overview
By learning this lesson made me realize that EVERYTHING is composed out of chemical compounds. Without learning the chemical compounds, I would not know what each object was made out of. Also, by this lesson I have discovered that some of the elements on the periodic table is repeatedly used in our everyday life.
Personal Achievement
A chemical compound is a chemical substance consisting of two or more different chemically bonded chemical elements, with a fixed ratio determining the composition.
The ratio of each element is usually expressed by chemical formula. Mass percent composition of a molecule shows the amount each element in a molecule contributes to the total molecular mass. Each element's contribution is expressed as a percentage of the whole.
Enduring Understanding
STRENGTH:
Demonstrates the understanding of chemical compounds
REASON:
By doing the Around The School project, finding different chemical compounds helped me to understand the purpose and how important chemical compounds are for our everyday life.
AREA OF IMPROVEMENT:
Develops reading and writing literacy in science
Plan to Improve:
I can improve myself by opening up and accepting new information. Being able to read and accept more of what I am learning can improve my skills in writing.
Reflection on Standards
Evidence of Work

Chemical Equation Project
In our class, we had the chance to pick any chemcial compound. I chose Chlorophyll in orfer to go more in depth about my understandingfor this compound.
Around the School Lab
One of the lab was used in order to find different school items which are composed with chemical compounds. At the end of this lab, I found out that the majority of items created around us are made out of chemical compounds.
