/Imperialism
This unit carries on from the Industrial Revolution by examining the significance of European power and the quest for natural resources. For learning experiences in this unit students participated in class discussion, read from the textbook, created a political cartoon, participated in a simulation of the Berlin Conference, and watched a documentary. In order to demonstrate their learning students wrote essays and created presentations to illustrate the effects of imperialism on an African country of their choosing.
Unit Overview
In this unit about European Imperialism, I have learned the significance of European powers and how it has affected the world. My class has discussed and read about Imperialism which leads to our first work, political cartoon. We did the Berlin Conference, and I have learned that when many country want something that is not able to be shared can cause many arguments and bribery. An essay was assigned and we had to pick one country from Africa, for further research. Going into deeper detail about a certain part of the world which was affected by European Revolution really helped me to understand of why the country is the way it is today.
Personal Overview
How did European imperialism affect the world?
European imperialism affected the world, both positively and negatively. The world would not be the way it is today, if it has not been for the imperialism. Positive factors include new advanced technology, educations, and spreading their culture. There are also negative factors which European imperialism has affected the world. For example, some countries were left in debt or sometimes the ruler would take benefit of the country they took over, leaving them in a worse condition they had started with. As I researched about European imperialism in Algeria, I have learned that the negative result overcomes the positive, leaving them enemies until today.
